Today’s verse takes us to the wilderness with Jesus and Satan. Jesus has not eaten for forty days, and Satan taunts him to command the stones to become bread.
Jesus’ response comes from the Old Testament Scriptures; Deuteronomy 8:3 to be exact.
What Jesus is living is a priority driven life. His own power and comfort are secondary to reliance upon the Father. He’s not blaming God for his hunger and will not succumb to the temptation of the Enemy; but rather demonstrates his reliance on God for everything.
In our consumer driven narcissistic lifestyle, we seldom stop and reflect that all we are comes from God; He provides us with life, breath, and everything.
