My son, keep your father’s commandment, and forsake not your mother’s teaching. Bind them on your heart always; tie them around your neck. It seems like yesterday that I sat in a neonatal ICU and held that 4 1/2 pound preemie. So small and so vulnerable, and not able to eat on your own. You needed protection and love.

This morning I wake up and realize that I can no longer protect, but only advise. You have all the skills to take care of yourself. And I’m OK with that, because you are smart, uber talented, and a very good man.

Despite my best efforts to screw you up!!!
