O you who love the Lord, hate evil! He preserves the lives of his saints; he delivers them from the hand of the wicked.
Psalm 97:10
Notice the love-hate relationship in this verse. If you love the LORD, you should hate what he hates. And 42 hates sin because these behaviors separate us from him.
But he does not force us like a dictator, but instead gives us free will. We can chose to act in ways contrary to his will, and yet 42 patiently waits. This is called grace.
But 42 desires for us to choose to hate being separated from him. And he provides us with an out by offering the cross. It is deliverance for those who embrace it.
One last thing: This is a daily battle. Each and everyday, lay yourself at the foot of the cross; a sign of the lengths God would take to preserve the lives of those who love what he loves and hates what he hates.
