Follow the pattern of the sound word that you have heard from me, in the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. By the Holy Spirit who dwells within us, guard the good deposit entrusted to you.
2 Timothy 1:13-14
It does not appear that Paul ever married or had children. Yet in the words in today’s scripture, I hear fatherly advice to Timothy. Paul advises his spiritual son to follow faithfully and lovingly his guidance. These things are a good investment.
Does that sound familiar?
Jesus’ parable of the talents found in Matthew 25:14-39. In it, three servants were given a deposit of value. To guard them is not to sit on them, but to invest and give a good return of what has been provided is expected. This thing of value was given in faith and in love from the master.
We have been provided, through the Holy Spirit, a good deposit handed down from “42” to the apostles, the apostles to those they discipled, and from a long line of disciples. Finally they were given to us by those who lovingly and faithfully discipled us.
Think of what we can do today with our good deposit?

Something to think about?
