For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6
Written by Isaiah before the Babylonian exile in 597 b.c., this is a promise to the Hebrew people (and you and me) of the birth of a son who will be a king, a prince, a counsellor, a bringer of peace, and an everlasting father and God.
On this day we celebrate that God became flesh and dwelt among us. His purpose? To love, and to teach us to love.
Now this love requires we focus on the will of the Triune God of Grace for us with every aspect of ourselves. So seek his counsel and live in peace with all.
