Something to Think About – 2023.06.16

As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him. Psalm 103:13

The word “fear” is icky; it makes you think 42 wants us to be afraid of him. Actually, in Hebrew, it means just that. The word yare (יָרֵא) means to be fearful and reverent before YaHWeH. But the fear is not about his mean-spirited or cruel nature, but ours. As imperfect and finite beings, to stand before THE PERFECT and INFINITE BEING should unnerve us!

Yet, in 42’s compassion for us, he gives us a Savior to lift us into his perfection. This great accommodation came in bodily form in none other than the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
