Occasionally, 42 throws me a bone!
I will spend some time over the next few weeks reflecting on those occasions that 42 uses to remind me that He is still on the job even when I feel like I am spinning my tires in Alabama mud after a rainstorm. Yes, that is a movie reference.
At the beginning of July, my extended family gathered to recognize the passing of my dad and mom. Afterward, we do what many families do on such occasions; sit around eating, drinking, sharing stories, and catching up with one another.
During our time together, my nephew-in-law, Όλυμπος (Olympus), began talking to me about SearchingFor42.net. I was pleasantly surprised that he was a follower. The Flying Scotsman entered the conversation, and I told Όλυμπος that TFS was actually standing twenty feet behind him at the service, and if I had known he was a fan, I would have made an introduction.
Wait… it gets better!
My future nephew-in-law, Mr. Hi-Jack, an up-and-coming history teacher, was listening in on the conversation about The Flying Scotsman. To my surprise, Mr. Hi-Jack knew, without reading this bLOG, that The Flying Scotsman was a passenger train that traveled between Edinburgh and London. We also discussed that this 4-6-2 steam locomotive inspired the creation of Henry (Number 3), one of the characters in the Thomas the Tank Engine series!
I am profoundly grateful to 42 for affirming me by revealing a bLOG reader, and to a fellow history nerd who hopefully will be reading SearchingFor42.net as a result of this exposure to the HitchHiker.
Thank You 42!
