I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:14

Paul is telling us to live forward, pursuing the call of God through Christ. In the prior passage, he emphatically states that he is “forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead.” Paul is not telling us to leave the past behind because our personal history always travels with us. Instead, he is instructing us not to be mired down in it. Otherwise, we will be unable to move forward in the present and toward our future.

Easier said than done in our current context. But we must!
