In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:1-2, 14

I remember sitting in class when our professor read the opening words of the Gospel of John in its original language: Koine Greek. Its lyrical rhythm was punctuated by the sound “ho LOGOS” (“the Word”).

The word “Word” does not fully capture the meaning behind the word “Logos.” It means an embodied idea and a divine utterance. In other words, this embodied idea was the divine utterance not unlike those familiar words from Genesis 1:

As we enter the Advent Season this Sunday, let us pause and remember that the Embodied Idea and Divine Utterance will come again as he did in the beginning and 2000 years ago!

the Savior of the world is here!

Georg Weissel – 1992
