For this is the message that you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.
1 John 3.11
It sounds so simple, and yet it is simply profound. It is the second core element of the covenant with God, yet it flows from the Primary of that very agreement. The Evangelist doubled-down later in the letter with the words, “We love because He first loved us.” 1 John 4:19.
As a disciple of Christ, I don’t think you can ignore this commandment. After all, Jesus would clarify that this LOVE flows through and gives meaning to all the law and the prophets! (Matthew 22:44)
