A Different Perspective
You all know I love watching the sunrise in the morning, especially when I am in my happy place (Gloucester). Yet, where I live, it is not conducive to witnessing sunrises because I can’t see the sun until about fifteen or twenty minutes after it rises. By then, you have missed the spectacular light show of colors and dazzling sun. Why? Because East Mountain is in the way.
Recently, Cup-O-Joe introduced the concept of seeing from a different perspective (I know this doesn’t surprise those who know him): looking to the West when you can’t see the East. To the West of my house is West Mountain (you would think they would have been more creative when naming their mountains). You can watch the sunrise by seeing the morning’s first direct sunlight as it hits the tops of the trees on the mountain. Then, the light progresses downward as the sun rises higher. It doesn’t take long for that direct sunlight to hit the cross on the top of the spire of the sanctuary across the street!
It is pretty darn amazing that the first things illuminated each morning are creation and the cross. Both point to and celebrate the WORD!
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:5
