Abandonment
Recently, my spiritual director handed me a prayer called “Abandonment Prayer.” This prayer of submission is so contrary to the world’s call to self-ism. It is a commitment to selflessness before the Author of LIFE, the UNIVERSE, and EVERYTHING.
Father,
I abandon myself into your hands; do with me what you will. Whatever you may do, I thank you.
I am ready for all, I accept all. Let only your will be done in me, and in all your creatures. I wish no more than this, O Lord.
Into your hands I commend my soul; I offer it to you with all the love of my heart, for I love you, Lord, and so need to give myself, to surrender myself into your hands, without reserve, and with boundless confidence, for you are my Father.
Charles de Foucauld
I invite you to join me in praying these words at least once daily and watch what sort of Love-Mischief the Lord starts committing in your life.
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.
Psalm 19:14
