

And you will say in that day: “Give thanks to the Lord, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the peoples, proclaim that his name is exalted. Isaiah 12:4
Reflecting upon this verse requires first understanding its context. Even though the people Isaiah is speaking to face the pending disaster of exile, the prior chapter promises hope: the coming “Branch from the stump of Jesse.” In the Christian faith, we know this as a promise of the coming Messiah, the Anointed One.
Turning to Chapter 12, we are reminded of YaHWeH’s unbounded mercy and salvation toward us. Today’s verse calls us not only to give thanks for this but also to bring the Triune God of Grace with us for “show and tell” before the world. Let them see your passion for this salvation received from the Author of LIFE, the UNIVERSE, and EVERYTHING; let that flow out of you like living water.
