When I thought, “My foot slips,”your steadfast love, O Lord, held me up. When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul. Psalm 94:18-19
If you don’t see the picture of a small child cradled in their parent’s comforting arms, you are missing the point of this scripture.
When I was young, I remember a moment when I was crushed by the meanness of some of my friends. I lay on my bed, curled up in a ball, with my mom sitting next to me, her hand reaching to me, her words consoling me, and her wisdom comforting and strengthening me. That wasn’t the first, nor was it the last time!
You are loved by our Lord in Heaven. When you slip, he holds you up. When you’re overwhelmed, he cheers your soul.
