Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring. Proverbs 27:2 esv

It seems like we have an app for everything. We can see what the weather will be like tomorrow and what the point spreads for tomorrow’s games will be. We can see what the Asian markets closed at to get an idea of what could happen to the American market tomorrow morning. We can look at our calendar to see what meetings or appointments we have tomorrow or whose birthday is tomorrow.

What we don’t have an app for is one that tells us all the unexpected things that will happen in our lives tomorrow. Maybe we will fall in love tomorrow, or perhaps we will lose a loved one tomorrow. Maybe we will come down with the flu tomorrow, or possibly we will find out we are cancer-free tomorrow. Maybe we will have a car accident tomorrow, or perhaps we will save a life or help deliver a baby tomorrow. Maybe we will be scammed tomorrow, or perhaps we will win the lottery tomorrow.

The point is that we “modern” people are no different from those “pre-modern” people of the past. We still have no clue about what will happen to us tomorrow. But “42” does!

Jesus, do you want to take it from here?

“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

Matthew 6:35 esv
