He is our PEACE
Last week, at O’Dark-thirty, I read a short paragraph from Eugene Peterson about the word so profound. Peterson was reflecting on Ephesians 2:14.
“For he himself is our peace…”
Paul spoke of Jesus, who united the church by removing the ordinances in the law dividing the Jewish and Gentile Christians. In other words, Jesus made us whole and complete; therefore, he is our PEACE!
In Hebrew, this word is “SHALOM.”
So, if Jesus is the PEACE that reconciles us (makes us whole) with God and one another, are we not rejecting Christ if we, the church, divide ourselves?
Yet, over the centuries, we have found many ways to divide ourselves by focusing on so many nonessentials that we forget WHO is essential.
In essentials unity.
In nonessentials liberty.
In all things charity.

Let’s not forget who our PEACE Truly is!
