For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge,and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness,and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Peter 1:5-8

For what reason? Why are we to make every effort to supplement our faith with these virtues? It’s all about commitment and devotion. You can chose to work on this amazing gift our Lord bestowed upon you with divine Love, or you can toss it in a closet like that gift you so wanted for Christmas because things of the world tickled your fancy.

His is a call to action; Love one another and your neighbor. For doing so acknowledges and honors his great and constant Love for you.
