This week’s Hebrew word to reflect upon is RUACH. It is a beautiful word that places images in your mind depending on how it is used. It can be translated into English as “breath,” “wind,” and “spirit.”
Can you picture the Spirit of YaHWeH hovering over the waters of creation in Genesis 1:2?
Can you feel the cool breeze of the day as the Lord walks in the Garden in Genesis 3:8?
Can you imagine all those pairs of creation that God breathed life into assembling before Noah in Genesis 7:15?
All these beautiful images brought to you by the Creator himself!
By the way, the Greek cousin of ruach is “pneuma.”
For this week in Lent, ponder God’s breath and Spirit blowing over you, giving you life, breath, and everything!
