Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up.

Romans 15:2

The words for neighbor show up at least 150 times in the scriptures. Jesus taught us that we are commanded to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. The general message is that our fellow human beings should be recognized, served, built up, and loved.

So why is it that we live in a culture that seems to be so hell bent on destroying or demeaning our neighbor with our words and actions? Why do we find it acceptable to watch our neighbor get torn down?
