For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s. Romans 8:14

Our tendency is toward self-centeredness; to live for OUR wants and OUR needs. Sure, we may include those closest to us in that circle around US, but WE seldom are motivated to live outside OUR OWN sphere.

Paul is proposing that Jesus reframed all of that, choosing to live and die for us. The Lord of Life, the Universe, and Everything gave himself to us! That’s divine love and devotion. It is SELFLESSNESS rather than selfishness.

Understanding this, we need to challenge ourselves about who we are and WHOSE we are. If he gave himself to us, how now shall we live?
