There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Galatians 3:28 esv

Paul loves pairing the monikers “slave“ and “free.” He uses them on three separate occasions as he writes to the Corinthians (12:13), the Colossians (3:12), and the Galatians. In all three, they speak to the new identity placed upon us when we become one in Christ Jesus.

Sometimes we forget, and it causes us to look down upon others (or ourselves). Maybe we think we are not as good a Christian as the person sitting in the pew in front of us, or we think another doesn’t know the scriptures as well as we do. Maybe we do more service activities than they do, or maybe we can’t sing as well as that guy.

When it comes down to it, in Jesus’ eyes we are no longer Greek nor Jew, sophisticated nor simple, black nor white, learned nor uneducated, male nor female, professional nor novice, citizen nor immigrant, young nor old, sinner nor saint…………

Get the picture?!

“I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.” ~Jesus~
