“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:19-21
Today’s scripture takes us to the teachings of the Master as recorded within the Sermon on the Mount. In this case, he is teaching a counter-cultural hierarchy of importance and meaning.
Too often, and this is nothing new, humans focus on creation rather than the Creator. We place value and importance upon the physical realm rather than the metaphysical (transcendent) realm. We obsess about money, power, possessions, politics, and more. None of these last, nor can you take them with you when you die.
What Jesus is saying is that loving God (the Infinite) with every fiber of our being is more important than loving the things of this world (the finite).
How is your Heart Alignment?
