The Flying Scotsman

Periodically you will see information, pictures, memes, and cartoons that are delivered by The Flying Scotsman. When they do, I always give credit where credit is due.

The Flying Scotsman is colleague, pastor, scholar, sage, master genealogist, published writer, singer, and (mostly) just an amazing and trusted friend. And yes he is of Scottish heritage.

His timely wisdom rolls into the station as reliably as his namesake; a turn of the century steam engine that transported many back and forth from Scotland to England.

The Flying Scottsman was the inspiration for Henry in Thomas the Tank Engine.
The Flying Scotsman operated between Edinburgh and London via the East Coast Main Line. The service began in 1862; the name was officially adopted in 1924.
