Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. Ephesians 5:1
In context, Paul is telling the Ephesians to walk in love as Christ walked in love by “giving himself as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” (V. 2) In other words, in everything you say and do, do as your Lord Jesus.
My mom used to tell me that when I was really little, I would follow my dad around the house and imitate his movements, tasks, and even stance. It is kinda like the little son of Sheriff Brody mimicking his dad at the dinner table in the movie Jaws.
If we imitate the Prince of Peace, imagine how the world could be transformed. It would be like an infection of peace, love, truth, self-giving, kindness…..
Get the picture?
And we know that consciously following In His Steps, our Lord in heaven will be pleased. After all, it is true what they say:
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
