Again he entered the synagogue, and a man was there with a withered hand. And they watched Jesus, to see whether he would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse him. And he said to the man with the withered hand, “Come here.” And he said to them, “Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do harm, to save life or to kill?”
But they were silent.
And he looked around at them with anger, grieved at their hardness of heart, and said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand was restored.
The Pharisees went out and immediately held counsel with the Herodians against him, how to destroy him.
Mark 3:1-6
It’s Sabbath in the synagogue once again. Pharisees are watching, scrutinizing to see if he will heal somebody again. Then Jesus gets in their face! What is more critical, rules or love? No answer. Jesus is angered and heals the man. The Pharisees run off to and join forces with Herod’s people (the government) to figure out how to “destroy” Jesus.

Unfortunately, there is nothing new here. In our world, when people want to destroy someone, they simply get on social media and make stuff up!
Lord Jesus,
I feel like I should apologize to you for their actions. But in the end, even this ignorant conspiracy fits the purpose of our redemption. Let us not forget that You will show mercy to who you choose and harden the hearts of those you determine.
Please let me have a soft heart so I can serve the purpose of redemption.
I pray in the name of the Lord of the Sabbath. Amen!
