I have told the glad news of deliverance in the great congregation; behold, I have not restrained my lips, as you know, O Lord.
I call this a “preacher’s quote.” When one is called to ministry, that notice comes from heaven. When we accept this “choosing” initiated and cultivated by the Lord, it is our delight and profoundly humbling honor to proclaim the grace and love of Jesus Christ before the world.
But we must never forget that every Christian is called into ministry, for our Lord knows us before we were even formed in our mother’s womb, and each is wonderfully and beautifully made. God chose us to reveal our salvation before “the great congregation” of humanity with our very lives. Sometimes he even expects us to talk about it!
Through thick and thin, keep your hearts at attention, in adoration before Christ, your Master. Be ready to speak up and tell anyone who asks why you’re living the way you are, and always with the utmost courtesy. 1 Peter 3:3:15-16 (The Message)
