Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. Hebrews 1:1-2
Not unlike the opening of the Gospel of John, we have a statement declaring that the creation is intimately tied to the Christ. In other words, the Anointed One precedes creation and had a hand in it.
This concept actually serves the prior statement about God speaking through the prophets of old. Now he speaks through his Son; an incredible statement. It indicates that the Christ, who speaks in their time, is preeminent to those who spoke for God in the past.
More importantly, God now speaks directly to the people instead of using intermediaries. The power and significance of the incarnation!
