Sometimes I think that we overcomplicate faith. Over a couple of thousand years, faithful people have parsed every word of scripture and looked around every nook and cranny of theology and doctrine. We have divided the Christian landscape with schism and occasionally violence.
Yet today’s scripture says to be there for others in their good times or bad. The next verse in Romans goes on to tell us to live in harmony with one another. Many scriptures tell us to love. All in the name of “42.” Simple, yet profound, but hard to do sometimes.
Maybe those two sages of the last century were onto something!
