Milestones

The first time I met him was in the hallway outside of PC’s library at the end of Baby’s junior year. This gangly kid comes walking toward me wearing a New England Patriots t-shirt with hand extended. He greeted me with a hearty, “Dr. Sileo, it’s really good to meet you. (He had me at the t-shirt!)
And this is why we call him “The Schmooze.”
Last night we, our family, hit one of those milestones of life. The Schmooze asked Baby to marry him. He did it old-school with a phone call a few weeks ago asking for our blessing. Then he sneakily plotted his drop-to-one-knee proposal. Of course she said yes!

Welcome to da family Schmooze!
And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.
Colossians 3:14
This milestone catapults me back over thirty years from white coat ceremony at BU Medical School, to graduation from PC, to graduation from Sparta High School. There are stops at plays, musicals, marching band, and dance classes. There is kindergarten in Dubuque, to a hospital in Paoli, and more…
The final stop was at a milestone shared by another couple who got engaged over thirty years ago. In nine months, that young couple will celebrate thirty years of marriage.

and my goatee wasn’t white!

Wonderful! Congratulations to the whole family!
