
I, I am the Lord, and besides me there is no savior. I declared and saved and proclaimed, when there was no strange god among you; and you are my witnesses,” declares the Lord, “and I am God. Isaiah 43:11-12
God, speaking through the prophet, is quite definitive to the people about the Divine Identity. Notice the triple pronouns: I, I, and Me.
God tells them that he is Lord and Savior, and has been there for the people when no other gods made their presence known. Why? Because they are not real and he is. Finally “42” declares:
I am God.
Centuries later, Jesus would consistently refer to himself with a pronoun and verb too: “I am.” Not only is this a definitive statement that he is real, this combination of words is also a name; the divine name. That name is YaHWeH!
My God, the one who saves, is real!
