Beloved friends, what should be our proper response to God’s marvelous mercies? To surrender yourselves to God to be his sacred, living sacrifices. And live in holiness, experiencing all that delights his heart. For this becomes your genuine expression of worship. Romans 12:1
We loved to compartmentalize our lives. There’s home life, work life, social life, public life, church life…. 🛑 STOP!!! Church life?
When I was a kid, I remember what would happen in the parking lot after church. The exit was a bottleneck, and let’s say some behaviors fell short of the message delivered in the sanctuary that day. When I began serving in ministry, others warned me about those back hall or parking lot meetings after worship that a colleague called “parking lot lobbying.”
Compartmentalization is breaking your life into categories, and each of your categories may not be associated with others. Your behavior on a Sunday morning at church may differ significantly from those at home or at work. One would hope not, but too often, it’s true.
I love Paul’s statement. He basically states that your life should all be a genuine expression of worship toward to the Lord. Living every aspect of our lives in holiness through submission and sacrifice delights the Triune God of Grace!
Have you ever thought of your entire life being an act of worship? Let us worship our God!
