This past week, the topic of militaristic entrenchment kept creeping into conversations. Specifically, it pointed to the plethora of zeal exhibited by the “entrenched” and how their views get fortified as time progresses. Regardless of the sub-category, these soldiers of the “holy war” are bolstered by their side’s talking points, propaganda, and spin. (Yes, I am intentionally being redundant!)
Wouldn’t it be nice if we could channel all this energy toward faith in and zeal for service in the name of Jesus, fortified with love and respect? Imagine that!
My friends, it is said that the two things you should not speak about at family gatherings and dinner tables are politics and religion, and I agree. Why? Because both are the constructs of human hands. However, your faith is God-given and should be sitting at the table with you. Why? Because you are called into the service of Jesus Christ to love and respect others because “42” loves you first!
