In Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 2 Corinthians 5:19-20
As I pray at the close of a meeting, I often ask the Lord to remind us that we are his ambassadors in and before the world. In other words, when they experience us, may other people see the One who sent us.
Paul points out that this ambassadorship comes with a responsibility of reconciliation, an extension of God’s reconciling love embodied in Christ.
I have always thought that actions speak louder than words, yet both are essential. Unfortunately, I have often seen people whose words have the opposite effect because their actions are anything but loving, which tends to push people away from the Lord.
I have also seen others busy trying to act out reconciliation in the world, but failing to introduce others to the source of reconciliation, Jesus Christ. Some will even go as far as denying him.
Now go be that person who acts and speaks as a representative and promoter of the Author of Reconciliation.
